The BCCH is looking forward to a busy Autumn

The BCCH will be kicking off the autumn season with a joint event with Funzine, the French-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, and will welcome guests at the Turner and Italy exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts on 31 August. Then, as a welcome back from the summer holidays, members and partners will be spoilt at a British Seaside party at the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal on 3 September. Interview with Howard Rosen, President of COBCOE

With the world gripped by the worst recession since the 1930s, and a financial crisis that has morphed into an economic one, how successfully governments balance the often conflicting needs of short-term spending, long-term debt repayment, wealth creation, regulation, taxation and public sector cuts will determine how quickly, and how well, we come out of depression, says Howard Rosen, the President of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE).

The latest news from the British Embassy in Budapest

The British Embassy Budapest will be represented at the Sziget Festival with an Embassy tent named UK@Sziget set up at the Civil Sziget. They will be providing consular advice and showcasing the British Embassy's priority areas and activities of the British Council. Hungary forint lending back in vogue - or not quite?

Household borrowing in Hungary is on the rise, but with a twist on the earlier trend: The former popularity of forex debt has not returned; instead, retail clients are borrowing more local currency from commercial banks. The change is partly due to banks' efforts to cut back on forex lending, but an amendment to the law may have also been a significant factor. This legal amendment and interest rate cut expectations are the key arguments cited by those who believe we may be witnessing the beginning of a new era in retail lending in Hungary.

Her enthusiasms and entrepreneur spirit made her conquer the then saturated recruitment market and expand from a small start-up firm to one of the key players of this sector.
 

The BCCH Cup
Enjoy a summer of cricket

The British Chamber of Commerce Hungary is a proud sponsor of Hungary's first ever cricket cup tournament, which is a knock-out competition open to any cricket team in the country and is organised by the Hungarian Cricket Sports Association. Cricket has firmly established itself in Hungary over the last three years, and the BCCH Cup will provide a fitting finale to the season. Nordic Climate Solutions Conference

The prestigious Nordic Climate Solutions Conference is taking place in Copenhagen on 8-9 September 2009, with over 1,000 expected delegates and many prominent speakers.
