British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary closes one of its most successful years

The BCCH held its Annual General Meeting on 14 May 2009, where the management of the Chamber reported on last year’s results. Despite the economic difficulties, the BCCH stabilised its membership, held more than 50 events, and its ten Special Interest Groups worked on serving members’ professional, event and business needs, as a result of which the Chamber has closed one of its most successful years since its establishment.
Another achievement of the year is having a greater emphasis on maintaining British traditions and culture, part of which was introducing new British-themed events, which included a Fish & Chips night, a Pie & Mash evening, a tribute to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, a Late afternoon tea event, St. George's Day celebrations, and most recently, a highly successful Big Ben 150th anniversary / Strawberries and cream night.
Attendees of the AGM also elected the new Chairman and managing Council of the Chamber, both for a period of two years instead of the earlier one-year mandates, according to the Charter modifications accepted by the AGM. Gergely Mikola, Director of Corporate Affairs at Provident Financial was re-elected as BCCH Chairman.
