2010 - Another year of success for the BCCH

The British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary
held its Annual General Meeting on 19 May 2010. The event started with HM Ambassador Greg Dorey’s speech as Honorary Chairman of the BCCH, who provided a review of the past year; not just from the Chamber's and the Embassy's point-of-view, but also from the aspect of politics and business environment, both in Hungary and the United Kingdom.

The Ambassador's speech was followed by the report of BCCH Chairman Gergely Mikola, who explained the five key items of 2009-2010 BCCH strategy and the results achieved throughout the year. The principal strategic elements were visibility, membership, sustainable financial position, Britishness and the Special Interest Groups, and with 54 successful events, a long series of developments in the Chamber’s communication, event formats and services, a 9% increase in membership, and the closing of an outstanding financial year, he was happy to report that the key objectives were successfully met.

Executive Director Csilla Csurgai presented the results of 2009-2010 in more detail, further stressing the achievemets in the fields of membership, events, external and internal visibility, partnerships, and office operation. Treasurer Christopher Noblet took attendees through the financial and audit report, then Vice Chairman Adrian Ellis presented the activities of the Chamber's Special Interest Groups in 2009-2010.

After attendees officially accepted all reports, a vote on the amendment of the BCCH Charter took place, and the annual BCCH Achievement Awards were handed out to those who helped the Chamber the most in the 2009-2010 financial year. The Sponsor of the Year award went to TESCO Global Áruházak Zrt., who have contiously offered their support both for events and office operation; Vice Chairman Adrian Ellis was awarded the title of Contributor of the Year for his never-ending help in the Chamber's event management and his commitment as head of the BCCH Membership SIG; and Council Member Tamás Molontay received the award for Innovation of the Year for the establishment of the BCCH Finance Club.

The event then ended with a reception, where attendees had the chance to discuss the results presented, and also to say a toast to yet another very successful year.

2009 - British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary closes one of its most successful years

The BCCH held its Annual General Meeting on 14 May 2009, where the management of the Chamber reported on last year’s results. Another achievement of the year is having a greater emphasis on maintaining British traditions and culture, part of which was introducing new British-themed events, which included a Fish & Chips night, a Pie & Mash evening, a tribute to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, a Late afternoon tea event, St. George's Day celebrations, and most recently, a highly successful Big Ben 150th anniversary / Strawberries and cream night.

Attendees of the AGM also elected the new Chairman and managing Council of the Chamber, both for a period of two years instead of the earlier one-year mandates, according to the Charter modifications accepted by the AGM.
